Victor Edward Peter Roinel, originally from France, was a teacher of singing in Launceston at the time of the Tasmanian Exhibition in 1891-92. In Dec 1889 it was announced that he was to take charge of the department of elocution and vocal music at Mrs Nicholson’s Launceston Training College. By 1894 he was living in Sydney, and in the Sands Directory of 1903, he is listed as the principal of the Schuman School of Music at 316 George Street, Sydney. Victor was involved with the Esperanto Society and was known as the ‘Consul for Esperanto’. In 1909 he became involved with the Peace Society, an anti-war movement, and joined the committee of that organisation in 1917. Later, he was a manager, journalist and press director. Victor died aged 92 in 1959 in North Sydney.
