Susan Amelia Horton was born on 27 Sep 1866 to Edward Horton and his wife Susannah Sutherland at ‘Bensby Plains’ in the Westbury district of Tasmania. Susan was a soprano in the Exhibition Choir of 1891-92. She married William Alfred Fowler, timber merchant, on 6 Sep 1894 at the Holy Trinity Church, Launceston. Their four children were all born in Launceston: William 1896; Harry 1898; Alfred 1902 and Doris 1904. Susan died on 17 Oct 1950 aged 85 and was buried with her husband who had died in 1910, 40 years earlier. They were interred together at the Carr Villa Cemetery in the Anglican Section B No. 39. Her sister Emily Horton and future husband William Fowler are also pictured in the Launceston Family Album.
