Robert William Boag was born on 4 Dec 1882, the second child of James Boag II (1854-1919) and his wife Elizabeth Edwards. He was in the junior class of Martin Cheek at the Launceston High School, Milton Hall, in 1893 and also attended Launceston Church Grammar School. He had a small brewery in Hobart, which he sold before moving to Melbourne. He died aged 74 in 1957. See The Examiner 14 Jan 2006, p. 27.
