Mary Theresa Scott was born on 28 Feb 1869, the second daughter of David Scott (1837-1893) JP MHA and his wife Margaret McLachlan (1841-1918). Miss Scott was a soprano in the Exhibition Choir in 1891-92. Four of her oil paintings were displayed in the Tasmanian Exhibition: ‘Entrance to the Huon’, ‘Cataract Gorge, 1854’ and ‘Loch Lomond’ were lent by Captain Samuel Tulloch; ‘Freycinet Peninsula’ was lent for display by J Wilson.

On 17 Jun 1896 Mary married Edward Erskine Beveridge, a squatter of Mitchell, Queensland. Soon after their marriage in Launceston the couple moved to Queensland, where their children were born: David, 1897; Erskine, 1898; Mary, 1901; and Jack, 1902. Mary died on 21 Jul 1962 aged 93 and was buried in the Gilgandra General Cemetery in NSW.
