Louis Simson was born about 1844 in London to John Simson, born in Riga, Latvia, and a general merchant and consul for Baden, and his wife Jenny who was born in Antwerp. Louis was living in Tasmania by 1883 and joined his brother Augustus in a large sharebroking business in Launceston in 1888. Louis died on 28 Jul 1922 aged 78 and was buried at Carr Villa on the following day. His wife Charlotte was buried on 30 Aug 1939, also aged 78. See The Examiner 14 Oct 2006, p. 35.
