Miss Kennelly is possibly a daughter of Michael John Kennelly (1821-1908) and his wife Catherine Hodgins (1827-1884) who were married in Longford in 1848. Michael was connected with the coaching days when the stage coach ran between Launceston and Hobart. He is reputed to have assisted Mr Ritchie in the capture of the bushranger Quigley at Epping Forest. When the outlaw lay wounded, Kennelly lifted him on to his shoulders and made him secure on the top of the coach. He was taken to Campbell Town and handed over to the police (The Examiner 30 Jan 1908). Miss Kennelly or her sister Alice was a soprano in the Exhibition Choir in 1891-92. Alice is also pictured in the Family Album.

The original photograph in the Family Album is labelled ‘Miss Kennedy’, so the identity of this portrait is uncertain. Miss Catherine Kennedy was a storekeeper at 98 Wellington Road, Launceston.
