Jessie Anstice Ritchie was born on 12 Sep 1862, the third child of David Ritchie and his wife Mary Amelia Anstice of ‘Scone Mills’, Perth, Tasmania. At 32 years of age Jessie married Ernest Granville Miller on 25 Apr 1894 in Launceston. He was in partnership with his father, the Hon. Robert Byron Miller, Barrister and Solicitor. Jessie and Ernest’s two children were born in Launceston: Helen on 15 Mar 1895 and Alan on 20 Sep 1897. They were both christened at the Holy Trinity Church. Jessie died on 16 Oct 1936 aged 74. She was buried at the Carr Villa Cemetery in the monumental Section B1 No. 120 with her son who had died aged 29 on 11 Jul 1927. Ernest died on 1 Sep 1943 aged 79, and was buried next to his wife and son in Section B1 No. 119. Helen died unmarried on 16 Nov 1977 and was interred in the rose garden.
