This is most likely Jeannie Susan Peter, born in Launceston on 6 Jun 1874 to James Peter (1823-1894), ironmonger, and Martha Shields (1834-1919) who were married on 7 Aug 1852. She was the youngest of eleven children. Jeannie sang alto in the Exhibition Choir in 1891-92. She married George Augustus Nicholas, a grocer, on 9 Sep 1896 in Launceston. George was a son of Edward and Mary Ann Nicholas. Jeannie and George had four children: Beatrice, born 1900; Constance, 1901; George, 1907, and Marjory, 1910. Jeannie died at the Launceston General Hospital on 18 Sep 1950 aged 76 and was buried at the Carr Villa Cemetery Section C4 No. 345. George died in Oct 1953. Jeannie’s mother and brother John are also pictured in the Family Album.
