Eva Emma Button was born in Hobart on 13 Jul 1853, the eldest of ten children of Henry Button (1829-1914), proprietor of The Launceston Examiner and Tasmanian, and his wife Emma Glover (1833-1897). Eva did not marry but contributed to the social columns of The Examiner newspaper and was involved with church work and Red Cross activities. She died aged 76 at 2 Lord Street, Launceston, on 9 Aug 1929 and was buried privately at Carr Villa in Section E 265. Her father is also pictured in the Launceston Family Album.
