Emily Mary (May) Cathcart was born at Invermay on 11 Jan 1870, the daughter of John Connelly Cathcart and his wife Mary Elizabeth Maddox who were married in Launceston on 13 Jan 1869. Her father was an actuary at the Savings Bank in Launceston. May exhibited two pen and ink sketches at the Tasmanian Exhibition in 1891-92.

May married Frederick Ernest Pike, of Sydney, on 16 Jun 1896 at the Holy Trinity Church, Launceston. Their first two children were born in Launceston, Errol in 1897 and Gwenneth in 1900. They moved to Sydney where the other three children were born: Phyllis, 1903; Frederick, 1906 and Cedric, 1910. Emily died in Chatswood on 26 Sep 1954. Frederick died in 1958. Two of her uncles, Dr WG Maddox and James Maddox, and several cousins are also in the Family Album.
