Elizabeth Hutchinson Milne, known as Lizzie, was born about 1878 in Scotland. She was the niece of Jeanetta Helen Milne, the lady superintendent or matron of the Launceston General Hospital, who adopted her. Jeanetta is also in the Launceston Family Album. Lizzie did not marry and lived at the hospital and worked as a typiste. She later moved to St Margaret’s Hospital with her aunt, where she was a clerk. After the death of her aunt in 1933 Lizzie lived for a time with Dr John and Mrs Ella Ramsay in Pyenna Avenue, South Launceston. She bequeathed all of her estate to the Ramsays. In 1944 Lizzie lived at ‘Carona’, 10 Hobart Road, Kings Meadows. Lizzie died aged 64 on 6 Jul 1945 at the General Hospital and was privately cremated at Carr Villa.
