Edith Henty Barnes was born in Launceston on 20 Jan 1869, the elder daughter of William Barnes junior and his wife Isabella Susan Sharland. Edith married Dr Charles Parker on 13 Feb 1901 at St John’s Church, Launceston. They had two daughters, Lorna Estelle in 1902 and Betty St Clair in 1905. The family lived at ‘Nyllavert’ in Tamar Street, Launceston. Charles died on 16 Jan 1924. The house was sold to the Launceston Club the following year. Edith died on 5 Jan 1952, and was privately cremated in Hobart. Her ashes were buried at the Carr Villa Cemetery along with her husband. See The Examiner 2 Jun 2007, page 47.
