Charles Albert Sidebottom was born on 12 Oct 1873 in the district of Morven (Evandale), the fifth of eight children of William Sidebottom, MHA for Selby and a bark merchant, and his wife Sarah Jane Bull (1844-1893). Charles was educated at the Launceston High School in Milton Hall, Frederick Street.

Charles, a clerk, married Alice Elizabeth Morton on 14 Dec 1898 at the residence of the bride’s father, the Central Hotel, Launceston. Their two daughters were born when the family was living in Cameron Street, Launceston: Doreen Jessie in 1900 and Lorna Isabel in 1903. Charles died aged 44 on 22 Feb 1918 at St Margaret’s Hospital. The funeral left his late residence at 47 York Street. His wife Alice was buried with him 32 years later when she died on 10 Sep 1950. Alice Morton, his sisters Olive and Ella and brother Cyril are also pictured in the Family Album.
