Mrs Annie Aurelia Grace Stephens was born in Victoria in 1860, a daughter of William Evans and his wife Margaret Hendy of Ballarat.

On 23 Apr 1888, Annie Evans married Arthur George Stephens, a watchmaker and jeweller, the fourth son of Henry Stephens of Launceston. The marriage took place at St Paul’s Protestant Cathedral, Melbourne.

Annie sang in the Exhibition Choir of 1891-92.
