Alice Stoney Pennefather was born at Longford on 18 Sep 1870 to Edward Going Pennefather and Frances Harrison who were married on 13 Jul 1861. She was the sixth of eight children. Her mother died aged 55 on 28 Aug 1889 and her father married Elizabeth Carruthers on 19 May 1891. Alice registered to train as a nurse at the Launceston General Hospital on 23 Apr 1902. She studied further at the Sydney Women’s Hospital. Alice died on 19 Sep 1966 in Hobart at the age of 96 and was cremated at Cornelian Bay. Her brother George Pennefather and sister Isabel Mackay are also pictured in the Family Album.
