Alexander Archer was born at ‘Mountford’, Longford, on 14 Dec 1861, the second son of Robert Joseph Archer (1833-1914) and his first wife Ellen Elizabeth Clerke (1839-1875). Alexander obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree at Peterhouse College, Cambridge, and was admitted to the Middle Temple. He was a barrister and solicitor with the firm Law and Archer, Launceston. He died on 20 Feb 1945 in Launceston and was buried at Christ Church, Longford.

Alexander was the nephew of William Henry Davies Archer who also appears in the Album.
